Roscommon Drama Festival Results 2009

Bunclody/Kilmyshall Drama Group and Kilmuckridge Drama Group Scoop Top Awards at Roscommon Drama Festival

The 2009 Roscommon Drama Festival drew to a close on Saturday night last March 14th following 9 nights of memorable drama that both entertained and challenged audiences at Roscommon Arts Centre. A combination of well loved favourites together with more contemporary productions were presented by the many visiting groups but in the end it was Wexford's Day with Bunclody/Kilmyshall Drama Group's production of The Wake, directed by Knockcroghery native Pat Connaughton, taking the top honours in the open section and Kilmuckridge Drama Group's interpretation of Juno and the Paycock winning the confined.

Adjudicator Dara Carolan said he would delight in the "glorious memories that have offered themselves to me throughout the week" and had high praise for the festival, Arts Centre, audience and community concluding that for him the audience's "belief in the true meaning of a festival, a celebration of theatre by a community, this week's memories have been bound in your great response to the festival." In her closing address Chairperson Mary Cox thanked everyone who supported, sponsored and contributed over the past number of months to help make the festival the resounding success that it is.
